Irish Culture Heritage Tara in danger

Irish Culture Heritage in danger of permanent destruction!

Dear friends of Ireland!

As you may know, the ancient, sacred and royal site of Tara in Co. Meath is under threat of permanent destruction from plans to build a four-lane motorway through it's heart. Please see www.nuigalway.ie/archaeology/Tara_M3.html

Tara was the ruling centre of the Celtic High Kings and druids, as well as the place St. Patrick first used the symbol of the shamrock, now a symbol for Ireland itself. Tara is older than the pyramids, older than Stonehenge, older than the Great Wall of China. Expert archaeologists state that Tara is a site of not only Irish, but European and world importance. See website: www.protect-tara.org

As well as a national campaign in Ireland, the Protect Tara International Campaign has been launched in Germany by international project co-ordinator Fionnuala Devlin with the Rhine-Main German-Irish Association (DIGRM): see www.folkspiegel.de

You, the friends of Ireland in Germany, are asked to please now add your democratic voice to the campaign to save Tara! Ask the Irish Government to leave Tara completely undisturbed, and to choose one of the other routes available for the motorway instead:

Time is running out for Tara!

Will you please help now?

Please forward this appeal to your own correspondents.

Thank you for your time and support!
